Developing and implementing a High-Risk Breast Program is an exciting and complex process in which there is no "one size fits all" approach. A true comprehensive program requires the dedication and investment of various stakeholders with different and often divergent perspectives, values and goals, which can make implementation a challenge. Additionally, the lack of robust data about clinical and financial outcomes can make development of the business case difficult. Administrators and clinicians in the community setting are often grappling with which resources and investments are needed, along with understanding how to pull everything together to launch a sustainable, comprehensive program.

Management of the high-risk patient entails a multimodal and personalized approach. This high-risk session will include state of the art presentations on the identification of high risk patients, risk model utilization, the role of enhanced surveillance for early detection of breast cancer, lifestyle modification and risk reducing medications. With the advent of newer multi-gene panel tests, experts will review the importance of addressing patient desires, understanding of results and advisable thresholds for consideration of testing. A panel of breast health specialists will present case studies in the management of high-risk patients.

The afternoon sessions focus primarily on developing, justifying and operationalizing a top-notch High-Risk Breast Program, and the key business considerations for planning, developing and implementing, along the care continuum. It will be applicable to administrators and clinical providers, including nurse navigators, nurse practitioners, physicians, physician assistants and genetic counselors.
